Our Testing Methodology
We believe you deserve to know exactly how we test products. Here’s how we evaluate performance, design, battery life, and value so our reviews stay honest and useful.
How We Test Products
Every product we review goes through hands-on testing by our editorial team. We use each device in real-world conditions—commuting, working, exercising, or creating—so our conclusions reflect how you’ll actually use it. We don’t rely on spec sheets alone; we test features, battery life, and build quality over time.
Testing Duration
We test products for at least two to four weeks before publishing a review. For wearables and daily-use devices, we often extend testing to several weeks to assess battery life, software updates, and long-term comfort. Short-term “unboxing” impressions are never the sole basis for our scores or recommendations.
Criteria We Use
We evaluate products across consistent categories so you can compare fairly:
- Design & Build Quality — Materials, ergonomics, durability, and how it feels in daily use.
- Performance — Speed, responsiveness, connectivity, and real-world reliability.
- Display / Screen — Brightness, color accuracy, readability, and suitability for the use case.
- Battery Life — Tested with typical use; we report both our results and manufacturer claims.
- Features & Software — Ease of use, useful features, and any limitations or bugs we notice.
- Value — How the product compares to alternatives at similar and different price points.
How We Source Products
We purchase most products ourselves at retail prices. When we receive a sample from a brand or PR agency, we say so clearly in the review. Samples never guarantee a positive rating; we apply the same testing and scoring whether we bought the product or received it for review. We do not accept payment for reviews or for changing a score.
Ratings and Scores
Our ratings (e.g. Design 9/10, Battery 8.5/10) are based on the criteria above and our experience with comparable products. The overall score reflects a weighted view of what matters most for that product category. We explain our reasoning in the review so you can decide if our priorities match yours.
Updates and Corrections
We update reviews when we retest a product, when software or hardware changes, or when new information affects our verdict. The “Updated” date at the top of each review shows when we last revised it. If you spot an error, contact us and we’ll correct it promptly.
